This move was spurred by the increasing number of visitors choosing to drive to Branson. As a result, traffic congestion became a pressing issue along U.S. 65 to Springfield. To tackle this challenge, crews took to the hills, quite literally, carving out a more direct route through limestone terrain. This bold move not only alleviated traffic but also significantly shortened the journey from 75 miles down to a mere 40.
Today, Branson stands as a testament to resilience and innovation. What once started as a small town has blossomed into a bustling tourist destination, welcoming millions of visitors each year.
